Hotels Itinerary Maps and Route

General Information

bullet

An INFORMAL group of us will cycle from Austin to Dallas on two days, Saturday, October 11 to Sunday October 12.

bullet

The trip will involve two nights of lodging, Friday night, October 10 in Austin and Saturday night in Waco.

bullet

To ride, you are responsible for arranging the transportation of yourself and bicycle to the starting point. In addition, you need to coordinate the transportation of your toiletries and other items for the overnight stay in Waco.

bullet

Each day of riding will approximate 100 to 110 miles.  Therefore, you need to be confident that you are capable of riding these distances.

bullet

The planned pace will be approximately 15 to 18 MPH.  We will ride as a GROUP.

bullet

You can ride the a) entire two day ride, b) Austin to Waco only, or c) Waco to Dallas only.  However, you need to arrange for your transportation as noted previously.

bullet

This is ride "at your own risk" activity. Roads, congestion, and speed limits will vary and caution will need to be maintained at all times.  This is an activity that, of course, has some implied risk due to the distance and open roads.

Hotels

bullet

We plan to stay at the Drury Inn, North of Austin on Friday, October 10 and the Hilton in Downtown Waco on Saturday evening.

bullet

Additional information on hotels will be listed under the Hotels page, see button at top of page.

Routes and the Ride

bullet

Maps and a description of routes we plan to follow will be listed under the Maps and Route page, see button on the top of page.

bullet

Roads and conditions will vary, so be prepared to handle flats and mechanicals.

bullet

SAG support is unknown at this time, but expect it to be limited since we are a small group. If we have support, it will be from your non-riding drivers which volunteer to help us.

bullet

We plan to stop every 20 miles or so for rest and refreshment.

bullet

For more ride details, see the Itinerary page.

Food

bullet

We plan to eat together for meals (breakfast and dinner). This is your cost, of course.

bullet

For lunch while "on the road", please plan to bring appropriate snacks which can be consumed on the bike or at rest stops since "sit down" lunch stops may or may not be practical.

Clothing, Weather, and Supplies

bullet

While the daytime temperatures have averaged in the eighties historically, be prepared for cool weather.

bullet

Bring multiple tubes for the ride. Also, a spare tire is recommended.

bullet

In addition to your normal riding gear, a camera would be nice to record your feat!
